Cooking At Home Vs. Dining Out: Is It Worth The Savings?

By | source:Here Mar 29th, 2017

I’m not a great cook. I’d love to be the kind of person who whips something up using whatever’s in the fridge, but I’m more likely to call the closest pizza place and ask how long delivery will take.

Eating out does add up –– but is it worth the money you spend? I’ve always thought it was, but this infographic has me viewing things a little differently.

70% of Americans (that’s 7 in 10) would rather cook than eat out. Only 29% of people are willing to cut costs in other categories to be able to dine out regularly.

Almost half of people haven’t eaten at a fine dining restaurant in the past six months, while the majority of people find themselves at local casual dining restaurants and chain casual dining restaurants.

If you go to TGI Fridays or Chili’s and see a lot of young people, don’t be surprised: 84% of millennials say they frequent lower-cost restaurants. Interestingly enough, women are more likely to cook a meal at home to save money.

If you do make the choice to eat out, do you find yourself glued to your phone? If so, you’re not alone: 1 in 5 people are browsing social media while at a restaurant. Find out more here.
