How, when, and where we work is and has been changing rapidly, and it won’t surprise you to hear that technology is to blame.
What people did in offices before computers existed I can’t imagine, but since the invention of computers in the 80s, they’ve been increasingly essential to doing everything. We don’t just do our work with the help of computers, we plan our work, talk about our work, and get to work with their help as well.
The demographics section of this infographic shows modest but encouraging progress towards gender parity. It also shows that we’ve still a way to go before we can relax under the gentle sunshine of true equality.
Speaking of the future, I wonder if the “50% of the US workforce will be freelancing by 2020” thing will turn out to be true. We certainly don’t have to wait long to find out.
