There’s nothing quite as romantic as a marriage proposal. Whether it’s a spontaneous declaration of love or an immaculately planned spectacle, getting engaged is something special.

Buy buying a ring can be quite the process. While some people recommend spending three to six months salary on a wedding ring, most agree that one month’s salary is an acceptable budget.

While non-traditional rings are gaining popularity, diamonds are still a girls best friend. 3 in 4 women would pick a diamond engagement ring over a gemstone ring.

As I said before, proposals vary depending on the couple. Interestingly enough, only 10% of people are into public proposals. Also surprising: a staggering 20% of men would propose with a ring from a previous engagement. I’m not huge on bad luck charms, but that does seem like a potentially bad idea.

When deciding whether to spend big on an engagement or honeymoon, both men and women agree that the engagement deserves more love. I can’t argue with that –– you do wear a ring for the rest of your life if all goes well.
