By | source:Here Feb 2nd, 2021

You may not be singing in a choir any time soon given it is one of the ways that Covid-19 could spread, but there’s plenty of evidence that singing is good for our physical and mental well-being. Music gives the brain a workout and forms part of the healing process for many different cultural groups.

Music can help us to relax. It relieves anxiety and depression and can even relieve respiratory problems. It’s also good for your posture. Singing increases your body’s production of endorphins and oxytocin, making you feel good enough to dance along. It’s good for your memory and your mood, and it helps to build social bonds. Music is also known to substantially improve productivity.

There isn’t a culture around the world that doesn’t embrace music, no matter how primitive. In fact, the oldest musical instrument ever found is a bone flute that goes back 40,000 years! Rest assured someone was singing along with it.

Singing costs nothing and while you may not be the most musical songbird around, it’s bound to lift your spirits. We’ve all sung along with our favorite song and felt our spirits rise. So, why not fill your space with song? Sing in the shower and on your way to work and soon your world will be a happier place.
