We’re used to turning to IKEA for stylish yet cheap furnishings. Here are some tips for making your pieces even more chic.
The first rule of IKEA hacking is to put nicer legs on it. Sticking legs on a wall shelf makes it look like a proper vanity. Sticking nicer legs on your ottman or sofa makes it look like the $700 model instead of the $400 version. Throwing some high quality throw pilllows on your sofa, or making an entire fabric cover can boost its glam factor cheaply, as well.
Now, I know that most of us (without small children) scoff at the idea of actually securing anything to the wall, but if you’re going to make number four on this list, or anything else that invites leaning against tall bookcases or wardrobes, make sure to screw those suckers into a stud good and tight.
As for those houseplants you’ve artfully stuck around the place, check out our Why Are Your Plants Unhappy infographic if any of them get a bit peaky to identify common causes of distress for your green pals.
