Sometimes, there is just no time to make yourself a healthy and delicious meal. It happens to the best of us. You’re driving home from work or school, thinking about all the stuff you have to do once you get there, and you are just not looking forward to cooking yourself something for dinner. So, you pull into Chipotle for the third time this month. Or maybe you’re the type who prefers to stop at the grocery store for a frozen lasagna. Thankfully, there are ways to make your favorite takeout and frozen foods healthier, while still being convenient for you.
A few of these suggestions include swapping the standard options for a healthier one, like substituting sweet potato fries for french fries. Others suggest going easy on certain ingredients, such as asking for light cheese on your pizza, or using less sauces for cooking or dipping. As for all you salad lovers, you might want to skip the croutons and fatty dressings on your salads, and choose oil and vinegar instead.
While some of these options sound less satisfying than smothering barbecue sauce on your chicken nuggets, or eating a hot basket of fries, they are better for your health and may cost you less at the end of the day. I mean, who do these restaurants think they are, charging people left and right for extra ranch? It’s not our fault it tastes good with everything.
